What skills and experience we're looking for

PE Coach/qualified or unqualified considered

To deliver high quality PE lessons, collaborating with staff and leaders to develop a strong whole school approach to PE, sports and healthy living.

To carry out the duties and responsibilities of teachers as detailed in the most recent version of the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD 2025) and meet the requirements of the Teaching Standards.

Deliver the PE curriculum and any sports clubs as relevant.

Work with leaders to develop consistent practice in teaching and learning, ensuring that children achieve the highest standards of attainment and achievement.

Organise, plan and prepare inter-school competitions, sporting events and trust events, representing the school at such events as required

Teachers are expected to have a minimum good knowledge of and keep up to date with the Early Years Curriculum, National Curriculum and the Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. This includes any adaptations and curriculums the school or Lion Academy Trust adopts or use.

Teachers are expected to understand how pupils’ learning is affected by their physical, intellectual,

emotional and social development and understanding the stages of child development to adapt and improve provision so that children exceed expectations.

Use technology in teaching and learning to enhance learning and extend the learning experience for children. Teachers select and make good use of ICT skills for classroom and management support.

Be familiar with the school’s current systems and structures as outlined in policy documents including the Health and Safety and Child Protection Policies.

Understand and know how national, local comparative and school data including National Curriculum test data can be used to set clear targets for pupil’s achievement.

We are looking for motivated, passionate and hardworking PE Coach/Teacher to join us at Barclay Primary School. The ideal candidate will be willing to give their best for the children and keen to be developed further in their teaching of PE.
We are a warm, friendly school and team, with wonderful children and supportive parents. Children are motivated to learn, are exceptionally well behaved and deserve the best that we can give them.
