We have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, energetic individual to develop our sports faculty. The successful candidate with be creative, innovative and will have the ambition and drive to help this department and the school to continue it’s impressive development. This role will also combine with teaching a second subject.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and leading engaging physical education activities;
  • Facilitating both outdoor and indoor learning experiences to enhance SEMH students wellbeing;
  • Collaborating with the wider school community to integrate physical education into the curriculum.

St. Luke's Academy, rated 'Good' (Ofsted, 2022) is a vibrant, oversubscribed, thriving specialist school in Swindon, providing education for secondary-aged children with social, emotional and mental health needs. We have small class sizes, of between 4-8 students – very different to a mainstream school – but our students are worth it – and we are committed to helping each of our students reach their full potential.

If you are not already Team Teach qualified, you will benefit from receiving this training. In addition to this, you will be kept up to date with the latest educational initiatives and benefit from a strong induction and support programme.

  • Able to lead groups of students in physical education activities;
  • Hold qualified teacher status;
  • Able to plan and teach well-structured lessons;
  • Possess excellent communications skills;
  • Be experienced in working with children/young people, ideally with those who display challenging behaviours;
  • Be ready to get involved and get stuck in;
  • You will set high expectations for all.
