This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly successful, committed and well-established Physical Education department in our growing academy. The department has a long-standing history of success at local, county and national levels across a range of sports. We are privileged to boast amazing facilities on both our campuses, including multiple sports halls, dance studios, numerous outdoor pitches, a full outdoor athletics facility and purpose-built gymnasiums. We have strong links with local clubs and community providers.

 

We are seeking to appoint a strong all-rounder, with a games background preferred but not essential. Candidates will need to be confident teaching across the age groups, including delivering varied invasion, net and striking & fielding games, gymnastics, athletics, fitness, trampolining and dance. The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic, well organised, adaptable, willing to run extra-curricular clubs, and demonstrate a commitment to raising the attainment of all pupils in a challenging classroom environment. The ability to teach Core, GCSE and Cambridge Nationals to an excellent standard is desirable.

Our school:

Ark Alexandra is a large secondary academy with a Sixth Form provision in Hastings, East Sussex and is the largest secondary in the successful Ark network. A popular school that is heavily over-subscribed, we have grown to have over 1,600 students this year.

 

Our school is on an exciting rapid upward trajectory. From September 2024, Ark Alexandra will operate as one school across two 6FE campuses. This creates the dual benefit of working within a small school family setting, whilst providing unique opportunities for growth, development and career opportunities that exist in a large school model.

 

We take a traditional and research-based approach to education with a primacy placed on cognitive science, scholarship and what the best schools do. We are a no-nonsense school where staff can focus their efforts on teaching great lessons.
