PE Teacher - part time 0.4 job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who wants to join an excellent department. This post is suitable either for a teacher who is currently in training (ECT) or someone who would like to widen their experience, someone who will embrace the opportunities of working in a leading edge school. This post offers real opportunities for professional and career development.

This is a dynamic PE Department which welcomes a variety of approaches to the subject of Physical Education. The department is extremely experienced and is proud to boast a strong extra-curricular programme with a history of success, alongside a curriculum that is rich in depth but also variety. The successful candidate must be enthusiastic in developing their own pedagogy as well as making positive contributions to the continued development of the department as a whole.

Physical Education and Sport at Park High School enjoy a wide range of facilities. We have a Sports Hall which hosts Basketball, Badminton and Volleyball fixtures. We teach Gymnastics and Table Tennis in a separate space and utilise two Netball courts for school fixtures. We also enjoy the use of Centenary Park (which is accessible from the PE building) in the Summer Term. We are also lucky to have access to our own football pitch and cricket pitch, both of which are situated on land owned and used exclusively by Park High School.

We teach all of our core PE lessons in mixed gender groupings where all classes experience the full range of activities we have on offer. At Key Stage 3 students are introduced to the concept of GCSE style assessment objectives through their practical assessment criteria. This mirrors the full spectrum of assessment on the GCSE PE course and is therefore not limited to practical performance. At Key Stage 4, in core lessons, all students take part in the Sports Leaders Award, NGB Awards and a First Aid course.

Students can opt to study BTEC Sport or GCSE PE (AQA) at Key Stage 4. By running both courses, we can ensure that each student is placed on the course that best suits their style of learning and gives them the greatest chance of success. We also run an extremely successful A-Level PE programme (OCR) for those wishing to take their PE specific study further.

Applying for the job

If you wish to apply, and I hope you will, please complete the application form and add a short statement in support of your application (1-2 sides of A4) in the additional information section of the application form, or on a separate sheet. We will be using the person specification and job description both in our short-listing and the appointment, so please ensure you address the different points somewhere in your form or your statement. The completed application form should be either submitted online, returned to the school addressed to the Headteacher or emailed to hr@parkhighstanmore.org.uk.
