PE Teacher job summary

Thank you for showing an interest in a teaching post at St John’s CE Academy. We are delighted that you are considering joining our team at this exciting stage in our journey.

St John’s is a distinctive, brand-new all-through Church of England Academy, serving children and young people aged 2 to 16. We opened our Primary Phase in 2023, welcomed our first Year 7 cohort in September 2025, and will continue to grow year on year until the school is fully established in 2029.

As a growing school, we are particularly excited to welcome colleagues who are enthusiastic, flexible, and keen to help shape an exceptional secondary phase from its earliest years. We warmly welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers.

This is a once in a career opportunity to join a new and flourishing school at an exciting point in its development, where high-quality teaching, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to excellence are already very evident.

Alongside the support of the wider staff team, you will work closely with the Head of School, Assistant Headteacher (a former Head of PE) and Faculty Leads, to promote sport and physical education across the school. Collaborative planning and professional development are central to our culture as we grow together.

PE at St John’s is supported by exceptional, brand-new facilities, including a large sports hall with natural lighting, theatre, dance studio, dedicated PE office and changing facilities, and a large MUGA (multi use games area) with space equivalent to four tennis courts, three netball courts, or a 7-a-side football pitch. Our extensive outdoor provision also includes a full size football and rugby pitch, three 5-a-side training pitches, and field space suitable for both 200m and 400m running tracks. In addition, there are further hard-court recreational areas with table tennis tables and social sports spaces for students.

Visits

We warmly invite prospective candidates to visit the school for a tour and to meet members of the team. To arrange a visit, please contact us via our enquiries email: Enquiries-Secondary@sjo.cambrianlt.org.

Closing Date

The closing date for applications will be Thursday 19th March @ midday.

Interview dates will be confirmed following the closing date and further information regarding the interview schedule will be provided with this invitation. We anticipate these being Wednesday 25th and/or Thursday 26th March.
