People Assistant job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, organised, and professional People Assistant to join the team at Frances Bardsley Academy and The Bridge. In this important role, you will work closely with the People Support Officer and the Hub Operations Manager, forming a valued part of the People and Operations Team within our Havering Secondary Hub.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who takes pride in providing excellent administrative support and who brings a friendly, approachable, and team-focused manner. You will play a key role in supporting the smooth and effective running of our school community, helping to create a positive and well-organised environment where staff and pupils can thrive.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Prior experience in a People / HR assistant role is desirable, but not essential.
- A genuine passion for high standards and continuous improvement.
- The ability to model excellent professional behaviour in a workplace setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills paired with the ability to handle highly confidential matters with absolute discretion.
- The ability to thrive within a team.
- A reliable, calm, and organised approach, with the ability to balance multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and a good sense of humour.
- Previous experience within a school office setting and with school systems may be an advantage, but not essential.
- A track record of producing consistently high-quality documentation.
- Advanced computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office
The successful candidate will be based at Frances Bardsley Academy and become part of an oversubscribed, flourishing school for girls aged 11 to 18, with confident, courteous, articulate students and an ethos in empowerment. The Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls is a non-denominational academy secondary school and sixth form for girls aged between 11 and 18. It is located in Romford in the borough of Havering, London. The number of pupils is approximately 1,300.
The school was established in 1906 by Frances Bardsley with the aim of providing free education to the local girls. Formerly across two different sites until 2003, it became The Frances Bardsley School for Girls in 1972 and converted to academy status in 2012.
