Performing Arts Technical Manager job summary

37 hours per week, 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 3.30pm Friday (Flexibility will be required when there are performance weeks/evening events), term time only (39 Weeks). Grade D - Step 1 Actual Annual Salary £23,001.60 (which is equivalent to a full time salary of £26,818).

We are looking to appoint a skilled individual to complement our team driving the use of new technologies and performing arts across the curriculum. Relevant experience in the arts, including set design, sound and lighting along with knowledge of current multimedia technology is desirable. As a large secondary school with an active student technical team any experience working with young people would be an advantage.

The role will involve:

  • Leading technical support for school staff and students using the school performing arts facilities including the stage and auditoriums.
  • Ensuring the appropriate operation of all lighting and sound equipment for school and community performances.
  • Advising and providing technical support for Community groups/individuals using the Dart centre and other community facilities, where appropriate.
  • Taking overall responsibility for the development and training of students on site as a technical crew for productions.
  • Taking overall responsibility for Radio Club and Backstage Crew Clubs
  • Managing the inventory usage of the main hall and auditoriums.
  • Providing technical support across the school as and when required.
  • Monitoring the effective use of school performing arts equipment and ensuring all jobs are booked into the CA techs ticketing system.
