Are you an enthusiastic Peripatetic Woodwind Tutor (Flute Specialist), able to inspire and nurture the musical needs of keen, young musicians?


Would you like to work within an Academy Trust with a long musical heritage and where Music is not only valued but actively promoted and where more than 600 students currently have Instrumental or Singing Lessons?


Due to an expansion of our provision this is a wonderful opportunity to become part of our team at West Norfolk Academies Trust where Music is central to our Vision.


We are looking for Peripatetic Woodwind Teachers but we would also welcoming applications from all tutors in all disciplines.


Salary: £36/hour on a self employed basis

About Us:

It is fair to say that Music has a rich heritage here at West Norfolk Academies. As one of the most vibrant departments across all schools within the trust it is very rare not to hear music being rehearsed and performed before and after school as well as at break and lunch time.

As a trust we are actively looking to increase uptake of pupils learning a musical instrument in both primary and secondary schools. We are seeking to appoint inspirational and dynamic peripatetic instrumental teachers to deliver high quality one to one, small group and ensemble tuition across the Trust.


The successful candidates will be inspiring and experienced teachers, committed to helping develop music provision across all schools within the trust.


Main Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • plan individual lessons and overall schemes of work for pupils
  • teach individual and/or group lessons lasting from 15 minutes to an hour or longer, usually incorporating elements of general musicianship, such as ear training and theory, as well as instrumental technique and interpretation
  • arrange lesson schedules, collect fees and enter students for examinations
  • develop your knowledge of materials and repertoire for students at different stages of their musical development
  • negotiate time and accommodation slots for school-based music lessons and work alongside classroom teachers on music activities
  • communicate with parents about their child's lessons and progress
