Job summary

Standards are high and the school uses Accelerated Reader and STAR Reader to motivate and assess pupils. There are two other specialist English teachers in the KS3 team with a wealth of secondary teaching expertise. There is an Assistant Faculty Leader for English and Humanities in KS2.The school is participating in a national programme to deliver ‘English Mastery’ and the successful candidate will benefit from this CPD and practice.
Applications are welcome from people who:
• have qualified teacher status
• have experience of teaching KS3 English and possibly KS2 English
• are able to teach history or geography at KS3

Essential educational requirements

Degree in a relevant subject
Qualified Teacher Status
Evidence of continuing professional development and ability to work in a reflective culture
Professional Experience
Outstanding teacher or record of outstanding practice within Initial Teacher Training placements
Evidenced record of securing improvement in pupil learning
Vision and Leadership
Ability to lead, motivate and challenge pupils
Ability to use outcomes from self-evaluation to inform future planning and improve standards
Learning and Teaching
Ability to promote an innovative English curriculum covering all four middle school years
Ability to teach at least one other subject within the faculty curriculum
Ability to use data to support learning, set targets and monitor and evaluate performance so leading to improved standards
