What skills and experience we're looking for

  • Maintain a diary, make appointments, and organise meetings on behalf of the Principal.
  • Liaise daily with the Principal regarding the events of the day and follow up on any consequential actions.
  • Dealing with highly confidential and sensitive issues. Always show confidentiality and discretion.
  • Take minutes and act as secretary to various groups and bodies (personnel and staff meetings).
  • Provide high quality text processing service for the Principal using computerised equipment.
  • Assist Vice Principal(s) and other senior managers with text processing services.
  • To manage and ensure the smooth running of the school’s reception.
  • Act as line manager for specified staff to include staff cover arrangements, formal staff appraisal and day to day priorities.
  • Be a member of the Operations Team.
  • Maintain effective and efficient filing systems.
  • Answer incoming calls, including those for the Principal when required.
  • Receive people arriving for meetings with the Principal.
  • Input data and maintain various computerised databases relating to staff and students.
  • Administer the Presentation Evening process.
  • Organise the staff internal mail ‘pigeonhole’ system.
  • Prepare and distribute newsletters for parents.
  • Create, organise, and review templates for annual teacher planners/diaries and to place an order for printed copies.

Hagley Catholic High School is a member of Emmaus Catholic Multi Academy Company of Schools and is looking to recruit a friendly, approachable, enthusiastic and experienced Principal’s Personal Assistant (PA) to act as the first point of contact for the Principal and all such matters associated with the Principal’s role, using discretion and professionalism, and ensuring all staff, visitors and callers receive a professional response and are dealt with by the appropriate person.

The successful candidate will work very closely with the Principal on key business and administrative functions to run a very busy and successful school. Key responsibilities include managing the Single Central Record, HR and recruitment, and line management of the administrative team.

Hagley Catholic High School is part of the Emmaus Catholic Multi Academy Company with five of our Catholic feeder schools. Currently our school has population of 1136 pupils aged 11 – 18 including a Sixth Form of 200. The school operates under the patronage of St Nicholas Owen and is dedicated to developing a Catholic community in which all students work towards fulfilling their potential in a safe and supportive environment.

The school is situated in Worcestershire, bordering on to West Midlands, in a semi-rural setting some twelve miles south west of Birmingham. The village of Hagley is within close proximity to the national motorway network, yet still enjoys views of the Clent Hills and beautiful surrounding countryside.

The school has a Pupil Admission Number of 190 with six forms of entry, however, we are heavily over-subscribed. The school enjoys an excellent reputation and commands a high degree of parental and parish support. Students come to Hagley mainly from Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Halesowen, Stourport-on-Severn, Bewdley and South West Birmingham.
