Personal Assistant to the Headteacher job summary

About the Role:

As the PA to the Headteacher, you’ll be the linchpin of our leadership team — managing communications, coordinating meetings and events, and ensuring the Headteacher’s schedule runs like clockwork. You’ll be the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, helping to maintain our school’s high standards and warm, welcoming ethos.

Why Join Us?

St Joseph’s is a vibrant, inclusive school community where every member of staff plays a vital role in shaping the lives of our students. You’ll be part of a genuinely supportive team, with opportunities for professional development and the chance to contribute to the school’s mission and values.

Work in a supportive and friendly school environment.

Be part of a dedicated and passionate leadership team.

Enjoy opportunities for professional development.

Comprehensive staff wellbeing package including online GP access and free on-site gym facilities.

Join us in making a difference at St Joseph's!

The Key Responsibilities:

Provide confidential support to the Headteacher and Headship team.

Manage diaries, correspondence, and meeting logistics.

Lead on key school events including Prize Evening and Parents’ Evenings.

Maintain and update the school calendar and MIS systems.

Oversee admissions and exclusions administration processes.

Liaise professionally with parents, staff, governors, and external agencies.

Support recruitment, staff absence tracking, and elements of data reporting.

What We’re Looking For:

A highly organised individual with impeccable attention to detail and strong communication skills

Calm, tactful, and professional in all interactions.

Experienced in administrative work, ideally within education.

Skilled in operational support including event planning and problem solving

Committed to safeguarding and the ethos of our school.

The Hours:

Full time over 5 days per week. This is a full-time role, and while there may occasionally be a need to stay later for leadership meetings or school events, we’ll work with you to flex your hours in a way that keeps things balanced and manageable.

Term time [38 weeks per year] plus 4 weeks during INSET and school holidays although we may consider a full year contract if that works best for the successful candidate and that would increase the pro-rata salary.

For more information, visit our website [sjchs.uk] or contact Ian Nevitt, Headteacher on 01900 873290 or via Claire.Tuck@sjchs.uk.
