Personal Assistant to the Headteacher job summary

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and professional Personal Assistant (PA) to the Headteacher to join our dynamic team at St Joseph's as the current postholder has moved into a new development role within the school. This is a key role providing high-level administrative and organisational support to the Headteacher, ensuring the smooth running of their daily schedule and wider school operations. The role will also provide operational support to the Business Manager and will undertake analysis of school data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to the Headteacher.
  • Manage the Headteacher’s diary, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings.
  • Provide operational support to Business Manager and wider Headship Team.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and presentations.
  • Act as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organise school events, meetings, and take minutes when required.
  • Assist with HR and recruitment administration where necessary.
  • Support in analysis of school data.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

✔ Highly organised with excellent time management skills.

✔ A strong communicator, both written and verbal.

✔ Proactive and resourceful, able to anticipate the needs of the Headteacher.

✔ Confidential and professional, handling sensitive matters with discretion.

✔ Experienced in administration, preferably in an educational setting.

✔ Tech-savvy, with strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, MIS systems, etc.).

Hours: Full time over 5 days per week. This is a full-time role, and while there may occasionally be a need to stay later for leadership meetings or school events, we’ll work with you to flex your hours in a way that keeps things balanced and manageable.

Term time [38 weeks per year] plus 4 weeks during INSET and school holidays although we may consider a full year contract.
