What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you an experienced teacher looking for your next challenge?

Are you driven and determined to secure the highest quality outcomes for all children?

Do you have vision, moral purpose, energy and a sense of humour?

Overton is an ambitious, thriving and outward-facing school, driven by our mantra of ‘Excellence for All. This belief underpins every decision we make and every interaction we have - for our children, our staff and our wider community. We refuse to place limits on what is possible and are uncompromising in our pursuit of excellence, opportunity and care for all.

This is an exceptionally exciting time to join Overton. We have just appointed a new experienced Head Teacher who will also start in September 2026.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to work in partnership with the new head to influence our culture, ethos, and child experience- ensuring every child thrives in a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving environment. We need a Phase Leader who truly understands our school - someone who can inspire, motivate, and drive lasting change. There may be an opportunity for a post threshold teacher or for the Upper pay range to be considered for the right candidate.

If you have the vision, passion, and leadership to make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you!

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have led significant improvement and can demonstrate impact
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude and consistently demonstrate leadership behaviours
  • Are passionate about children and staff achieving their best
  • Can manage and foster excellent relationships across the whole school community
  • Have excellent classroom practice with experience across the primary age range
  • Have an experience of coaching, mentoring and facilitating adult learning

What the school offers its staff

We offer:

  • Opportunities to make a significant contribution to Overton
  • An exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and forward thinking Leadership Team
  • A school which values distributed leadership
  • High quality professional development
  • A strong, supportive ethos
  • Children who demonstrate positive learning behaviours
  • An innovative approach to curriculum design

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. Our website has lots of information too. Please be aware that the closing date is 11 May 2026 at 12.00 noon. Interviews will be on Friday 15 May 2026.
