Play Team/Midday Supervisory Assistant (MSA) job summary

"Pupils at Summercroft Primary are curious and enthusiastic learners...[They] respond positively to staff’s high expectations of their learning and their behaviour...Pupils listen carefully to adults and to each other. There is a culture of mutual respect." - Ofsted, December 2022

Summercroft Primary School is looking to appoint new members for our OPAL Play Team. The OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) program focuses on transforming playtimes to boost children's physical activity, social skills, creativity, and overall well-being by providing diverse resources and encouraging imaginative play. It treats play as a vital part of the curriculum, ensuring children have amazing, engaging playtimes with access to varied items like pallets, crates, and dressing-up clothes.

The successful candidates will be reliable, enthusiastic and committed to promoting and facilitating a positive and active lunchtime for our children. They must be able to demonstrate the ability to use their own initiative, have good behaviour management skills and a flexible approach to their work.

The role will involve supervising children while they eat their lunch and providing support in various OPAL zones, using a roaming technique to ensure that all children are safe and happy during playtimes. There are two roles available: 12:00pm - 1:15pm, five days per week and 12:00pm - 1:15pm, two days a week.

We can offer you a supportive, positive and caring environment which values a good work-life balance, with friendly children who are eager to learn and have fun. Our staff are dedicated, supportive and committed to providing engaging and creative opportunities of learning for all our children. A bespoke induction package with a commitment to high quality CPD, excellent support staff and dedicated, experienced mentors are on offer to our successful candidates. We are also part of Envision, a local partnership of nineteen schools who work together to share good practice.

We hope that having read the job description you are interested in the role with all the benefits of support and training that are a part of working at Summercroft Primary School.
