This is an exciting opportunity, to join our team and to support and develop the school in line with its shared values and improvement priorities. Doubletrees School provides a creative and ambitious centre of learning for 98 pupils with a range of complex learning, medical and communication needs aged from 2-19 years.

The school is a member of the Special Partnership Trust, an ambitious and inspiring collaboration of specialist provision in Cornwall, with a focus on excellence in learning for everyone.

We are looking for a skilled teacher; ideally experienced in SEN. The role requires a love of teaching and a passion to learn; you will also require drive, enthusiasm, and resilience to join our successful and supportive teaching team. This is a real opportunity for a talented teacher, to develop their teaching and leadership potential within the unique setting of a special multi-academy trust. We are looking appoint an individual with a positive outlook, a proactive attitude and a track record of high-quality teaching and learning.

The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and delivering excellent personalised learning opportunities to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs all of whom will have Education Health and Care Plans.

Primary curriculum knowledge is advantageous – alternatively experience of teaching and learning of functional life skills and an independence curriculum. Applicants transitioning from mainstream are most welcome.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about preparing our learners for life beyond the school and supporting them to work towards accessing and integrating into their community.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate experience of SEN teaching and working with pupils with complex SEN needs, this may include PMLD, ASD, SLD, SEMH and/or communication needs; and evidence the ability to work effectively within a multi-agency team to improve outcomes for pupils or have a strong passion and desire to learn in this area.

This role is an SEN teacher, however in the first instance, we are preferably looking for teachers to work within our Post 14 team. The following experience would be desirable:

  • A knowledge of the early development of reading, writing and math.
  • A knowledge of Post 14 curriculum and functional life skills.

  • A knowledge of accreditation pathways from functional to entry level.

For the right candidate there may the opportunity for a TLR position, however this will be advertised across the school.
