Post 16- HLTA (Includes delivering learning - Careers Education / Life Skills to post 16 students at The Powerhouse) job summary
You will work within our post 16 provision at The Powerhouse in Farsley with students aged 16-19 who have moderate to severe learning difficulties. This is a state-of-the-art provision with real life learning zones including, a supermarket, post office, Amazone warehouse, hotel room, industrial kitchen etc. The main purpose of this part of the role is to take responsibility for agreed learning activities – predominantly life skills and careers. This will involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for classes. Pupils are working mainly at Entry levels 1-3 (i.e., pre-GCSE) and pre-Entry level.
The qualities we are looking for include:
Ability to relate well to children and adults and communicate at all levels
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes and in particular, barriers to learning
Experience of working with learners with additional needs
This is an exciting opportunity for further career progression once settled in post – if interested we would support the successful candidate to develop their ability to support careers across the SILC and become a specialist careers Adviser – which if achieved would be subject to a salary review and reduction in delivery of lessons.
Candidates are actively encouraged to visit. Please contact the school office on 0113 3862450 if you are planning to do so.
