The School was originally opened in 1877 with Miss Emily Buckland appointed as the first Head Teacher on the 1st February that year with 73 children on roll. Initially with just two classes, numbers soon increased and within ten years more rooms were added making 4 classes and the number of children increased to 170. In 1879 Miss Sarah Sears became the Schools second headmistress and although the School has changed a great deal over the years, the original building is still part of the current School site and remains very much the ‘heart’ of the village.

Turners Hill is a small West Sussex Village mid-way between East Grinstead and Crawley. It is close to the M23 which provides good motorway links and is some 15 minutes from Gatwick. Trains from East Grinstead or Crawley (Three Bridges) both of which are around 15 minutes away, will take you to London in a little over 30 minutes. Equally, the South coast is around a 30 minute drive away and nestled in between is some beautiful Sussex countryside.
