Pre-School Manager job summary
Pomphlett Primary School is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated Pre-School Manager to lead our Pre-School provision and ensure outstanding outcomes for all children.
This is an exciting opportunity for a committed Early Years professional to take a leadership role within a supportive school community, working closely with the EYFS Lead and Senior Leadership Team to deliver high-quality education and care.
About the role
As Pre-School Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing the Pre-School provision, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where all children can thrive.
You will play a key role in planning, assessment, staff leadership, and maintaining high standards across the setting, while embedding the school’s ethos and values into everyday practice.
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the day-to-day running of the Pre-School provision independently
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Manage staff deployment, ratios, timetables, and responsibilities
- Lead high-quality planning and assessment in line with EYFS
- Support and monitor staff to ensure accurate and effective pupil assessment
- Promote language development across the curriculum
- Support children’s social, emotional, and educational development
- Ensure effective provision for children with SEND and additional needs
- Work closely with parents and carers, including communication, reports, and parents’ evenings
- Ensure smooth transitions into Pre-School and into Reception
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding, EYFS, and Ofsted requirements
- Contribute to the school development plan and continuous improvement of the setting
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Level 3 Early Years qualification
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or equivalent)
- At least 2 years’ recent experience in an Early Years setting
- Strong knowledge of EYFS and play-based learning approaches
- A proven ability to positively impact children’s outcomes
- Experience supporting children with additional needs (SEND/EAL)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
