Premises Assistant job summary
Are you a proactive and reliable individual with a passion for maintaining safe, secure, and well-functioning environments? We are seeking a dedicated Premises Officer to join our Academy Trust team and play a vital role in the day-to-day upkeep and safety of our school site.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure the security of the premises, including key holder duties and emergency call-outs.
- Operate and monitor building systems such as heating, lighting, cooling, CCTV, and alarms.
- Carry out minor repairs, general maintenance, and porterage duties.
- Maintain health and safety compliance, including legionella and asbestos testing.
- Support cleaning operations and monitor standards across the site.
- Manage deliveries, waste collection, and consumable supplies.
- Liaise with contractors and oversee site works as directed.
- Assist with setting up rooms for exams and events.
- Work across other Trust sites when required.
- Experience in premises or facilities management (school setting desirable).
- Basic maintenance and DIY skills.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and respond to emergencies.
- Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office and email).
- Flexible and willing to work occasional evenings/weekends.

The City of Peterborough Academy was opened in September 2013 by Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT) after a £13.8m capital build. Based on Reeves Way in Peterborough, the academy has quickly grown from strength to strength. A dedicated team of staff aim to help support every child in reaching their full potential.
