Premises & Maintenance Operative job summary
Premises & Maintenance Operative
37 hours per week all year - alternating shift patterns
Working under the direction of the Premises & Maintenance Leader, you will support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a wide range of general maintenance and repair tasks
- Respond to maintenance requests and support planned preventative maintenance
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and secure school environment
- Conduct routine checks of the site, identifying and reporting defects
- Support site security, including locking/unlocking where requiredWork collaboratively with colleagues and external contractors
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in general maintenance, caretaking, or a relevant trade
- Can carry out basic repairs (e.g. plumbing, decorating, minor electrical work)
- Is proactive, organised, and able to prioritise tasks effectively
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards
- Has a flexible and positive approach to work
- Is able to work independently and as part of a team
Experience in a school or large site environment is desirable but not essential.
Tours of the school are welcome.
