Premises Officer job summary
The Premises Officer will support the Premises Manager with the smooth day‑to‑day running of the school site, including maintenance, security, compliance checks and ensuring high standards of presentation.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
- Assist with daily opening, closing and securing the school
- Act as a keyholder and respond to out‑of‑hours callouts
- Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, painting and decorating
- Complete statutory checks (fire safety, water systems, emergency lighting)
- Monitor and operate systems such as fire alarms, CCTV, heating and lighting
- Oversee contractors and support with obtaining quotes
- Maintain external areas and undertake cleaning duties when required
- Support school lettings, events and equipment setup
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
Has strong DIY and practical maintenance skills
Can work independently and manage a varied workload
Is physically capable of manual tasks (lifting, working at height, portage)
Has good attention to detail and a commitment to safety
Is confident using basic IT systems
Is reliable, flexible and willing to work towards a First Aid at Work qualification
Experience in premises or facilities roles is desirable but not essential.
