Preschool Manager job summary

Badby Preschool in Badby Village is looking to recruit a Preschool Manager to lead and take responsibility of the day to day running of our purpose-built preschool in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage and Ofsted Requirements.

This role would suit a Manager with a minimum of 2 years-experience in an Outstanding/Good Day Nursery or Preschool.

Hours: Monday-Friday (30 Hours per week), 39 weeks (38 weeks term time + 5 training days)

Salary Grade H point 14-20 £19,062.94 - £21,599.76 (depending on experience)

Badby Preschool is part of Badby Primary School and is Ofsted registered offering the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum by qualified and dedicated staff, for children from 3 to starting school age.

We offer affordable, flexible childcare that can be paid monthly or weekly, we also offer Government Funded hours for 2,3 & 4-year-olds (subject to criteria). Same-Day Emergency Childcare is also offered (subject to availability). The nursery is on the ground floor with 'free flow' access to the children's outside playing area.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Promote our values and ethos to ensure a child-centred, safe and stimulating environment is provided whilst meeting the individual needs of every child

  • Be responsible and accountable for the day to day operational and organisational aspects of the preschool in line with policies and procedures, safeguarding, Ofsted requirements, local authority guidance, health and safety and equal opportunities.

  • Ensure that all aspects of the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage and Welfare requirements are delivered to the highest standard.

  • Work in partnership with local childcare / education providers, health providers and all other agencies

  • Manage and maintain procedures for review and assessment of each child's progress.

  • Implement and manage an effective parent liaison programme.

  • Take accountability of role modelling and empowering your staff team to deliver high standards of childcare whilst complying with all aspects of the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage and Welfare requirements.

  • Lead the team while promoting positivity and professionalism.

  • Effective leader with a genuine desire to train and develop staff, supervising and supporting their professional development and day to day practice.

  • Management of staffing levels and turnover, through recruitment to ensure staffing ratios are at the required levels and managing sickness and absence.

  • Ensuring continuous professional development of staff through regular, documented one to one meetings and appraisals.

  • To promote the preschool through events including open days and celebrations.

  • Monitor and respond to parents in order to promote customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure health and safety at all times.

  • Manage the cleanliness of the setting in order to maintain the nursery hygiene and appearance.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Must have worked previously within a preschool/nursery at a managerial level for a minimum of 2 years.

  • Hold a relevant childcare qualification - minimum level 3.

  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements.

  • Experience of implementing the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage.

  • Able to demonstrate ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to effectively work to deadlines and targets.

  • An excellent understanding of child development and the ability to recognise and address any concerns.

  • Able to show empathy and understanding towards children, staff and parents

  • Eligible to obtain Enhanced DBS Reference and able to provide original copies of required qualifications.

  • Two satisfactory references, one must be from the most recent employer.

Desirable

  • Level 6 Early Years teacher qualification or working towards.

  • Ability to use a variety of ICT systems.
