What skills and experience we're looking for

We are currently seeking an experienced Primary or SEND specialist teacher to join our team. This role involves planning and delivering ambitious, well-sequenced learning, adapting a mainstream KS2/KS3 curriculum for autistic students, to enable them to eventually go on to achieve academic success at KS4.Flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues are key to success, and this role may well suit someone who is looking to further develop their pedagogy in a creative, non-mainstream environment.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children.

  • Have strong subject knowledge and a secure understanding of the National Curriculum.

  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to inspire others and a commitment to high standards.

  • Have strong adaptive teaching skills and the ability to teach a wide range of curriculum areas.

  • Have a proven record of securing good academic outcomes for students of all abilities.

  • Have experience of managing challenging behaviour, including working with pupils with autism in a mainstream or specialist setting.

  • Have a practical understanding that behaviour is communication and be able to motivate students who may display extremely challenging behaviour.

  • Demonstrate innovation and the ability to inspire students with a range of needs.

  • Be able to contribute to wider curriculum development within a SEND context and work collaboratively to support a broad and balanced curriculum.

  • Have a passion and enthusiasm for making a positive difference in the lives of students with SEND, supporting both personal and academic growth.

  • Be able to analyse progress, plan interventions and support achievement for all learners.

  • Actively participate in and contribute to staff CPD.

  • Ideally, have experience of teaching across KS2, KS3 and/or KS4, and be able to offer a specialist subject.
