Primary Lead for Inclusion job summary
The Primary Lead for Inclusion will be a member of RLT’s Central Team. The focus of their role is to raise standards in provision and outcomes in the Trust by providing inclusive teaching and learning expertise to leaders and teachers in RLT primary schools. Please visit our website to learn more about us: https://riverlearningtrust.org/.
As Primary Lead for Inclusion you will be a highly experienced school leader with a deep understanding of inclusive pedagogy. You will have extensive teaching experience and confidently model inclusive teaching across RLT primary schools - this will include co-planning lessons with teachers, co-teaching series of lessons and supporting leadership teams to implement inclusive teaching practice in every classroom. You will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the Trust, researching, articulating and implementing best practice in our schools. You will have a strong understanding of best practice in preparing pupils for next steps in education, including developing bespoke curriculum pathways for pupils requiring enhanced provision. You will develop a close working relationship with colleagues in schools, the Central Team and Local Authority partners.
If you are passionate about supporting senior leadership teams and teachers to develop and implement effective provision for children and young people with SEND in mainstream schools, then this post is for you. The post holder will work closely with our Director of Inclusion to provide support, and at times capacity, to RLT schools. Recruiting to this role provides further capacity to enable us to deliver our vision so that working together within the Trust will deliver the best possible experience for our children and staff.
This is an exciting time for the River Learning Trust. The Trust currently consists of 20 primary schools, 10 secondary schools, an all-through Alternative Provision, a Teaching School Hub and a SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) provider. We are also in discussions with other schools who may wish to join us.
We are looking to appoint to the equivalent of a full-time post, but recognise the benefits of flexible working and would consider making multiple part-time appointments. If you wish to be considered as a part time candidate, please mark this clearly within the personal statement of your application.
For further information about the post please contact Katherine Walsh, Director of Inclusion, on kwalsh@riverlearningtrust.org.
What we can offer
Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.
OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.
OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.
OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.
Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive continuing professional learning and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.
