Primary Physical Education Teacher job summary
Wren Academy Finchley Primary opened in September 2015 .
We wish to appoint a Primary PE Teacher to lead, develop and deliver a high-quality Physical Education curriculum across the Primary phase (EYFS-Year 6), including teaching Years 7 and 8 as part of our all-through provision. The post holder will inspire pupils to enjoy physical activity, represent the school in competitive sport, and develop lifelong skills in line with the school’s Christian vision and values.
If you have:
Qualifications and Training (Essential)
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Relevant degree or recognised qualification in Physical Education or a related field
- Evidence of continuing professional development in PE or sport
Experience (Essential)
- Experience teaching PE in a primary school setting
- Experience of planning and delivering a PE curriculum across multiple year groups
- Experience organising and leading school sports fixtures and events
- Experience working with pupils of varying abilities, including SEND
Knowledge and Understanding (Essential)
- Strong knowledge of the Primary PE National Curriculum
- Understanding of inclusive practice and adaptive PE
- Knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety in PE and sport
- Understanding of assessment and progression in PE
Skills and Abilities (Essential)

Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Ability to lead, motivate and inspire pupils and staff
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across phases
Ability to manage events, fixtures and logistics effectively
