Primary School Teacher job summary

St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Barnard Castle is looking to appoint an experienced (not open to ECT) Primary School Teacher initially on a fixed term basis for 1 year.

As a Primary School Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey and personal development of young learners during their formative years. This role requires a nurturing, creative, and adaptable educator who is passionate about fostering a love of learning in a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment. Key stage to be agreed upon successful appointment.

You will be responsible for delivering a broad and balanced curriculum, tailored to meet the diverse needs of your pupils. Through engaging lesson planning, effective classroom management, and continuous assessment, you will support each child’s academic progress, social development, and emotional well-being.

Collaboration is key in this role—you’ll work closely with teaching assistants, senior leaders, and parents to create a cohesive and supportive learning community. Whether you're introducing foundational literacy and numeracy skills or encouraging curiosity through hands-on learning, your impact will be lasting and meaningful.
