Primary Teacher job summary
About this Role
We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate Primary teacher to join our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), a small and supportive setting for pupils aged 5-16. Our provision supports young people who require an alternative to mainstream education, often due to social, emotional, or behavioural needs. This full-time role involves teaching pupils across KS1 & 2, many of whom have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or SEND. The successful candidate will play a key role in raising attainment and modelling best practice within the Primary Unit.
This role can be challenging, but it is equally rewarding. You will work closely with a small group of pupils, building strong, trusting relationships and making a genuine difference to their academic progress, personal development, and future opportunities.

The ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable young people
Resilience, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education
Experience in alternative provision, SEND, or SEMH settings (desirable but not essential)

Working in a PRU is not without its challenges, but for the right person, it offers exceptional professional fulfilment. Every breakthrough matters, every small success is celebrated, and every day brings the chance to change a young person’s trajectory for the better.
