Primary Trained Teacher Vacancy at Pilton Community College job summary

We are seeking to appoint a high quality, motivated and enthusiastic primary trained teacher to teach a variety of subjects in KS3, including: English, maths, science and humanities. The successful candidate will have the skills and expertise to improve the literacy and numeracy skills of an identified group of students, initially in year 7. Typically, these students will need bespoke teaching, support and guidance in order to reach standards that will allow them to access the wider secondary curriculum. This is a new role to the school. Therefore, the successful candidate will be integral in the development of the post alongside the relevant Heads of Department, the school’s SENDCo and the SLT.

The successful candidate will also line manage a small group of teaching assistants, working alongside them to ensure that the needs of the students are fully met. plan for and deliver high quality bespoke teaching and learning, to a group of high needs students;
teach maths, English, science and humanities to students who are not yet attaining at secondary level;
create a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment where our students are inspired, motivated and challenged;
be an inclusive practitioner with a commitment to meeting the needs of all groups of learners;
ensure all pupils make good progress;
be a reflective practitioner who has a commitment to working with colleagues to improve practice and outcomes for our students and demonstrate a willingness to join in with the wider life of the school and its community;
be a good communicator, building effective relationships with our students and their families;
have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills;
have a strong personal philosophy for inclusive learning that is evident within their own classroom practice.
