Your role:
As the Principal of Upwood Primary Academy, you will be a highly visible leader, responsible for driving the vision and ethos of the school. You will lead a dedicated team of staff, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, strategic planning, and effective financial management. Your role includes raising educational standards, fostering a nurturing environment, and building strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and the wider community. You will receive support from an experienced executive group, Trustees of the Board, local governance, other Principals, business leaders, and TDET’s Central Team. Strong professional development opportunities are available to all staff within the Trust.
To excel in this role, you will need significant expertise and experience in education, a proven track record of positive impact in leadership roles, and exceptional communication skills. You should be able to inspire and motivate others, embody the Trust's values of Trust, Diversity, Excellence, and Transformation, and demonstrate high levels of self-awareness and learning agility.
About us:
Upwood Primary Academy (UPA) is a member of the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire-based Thomas Deacon Education Trust, having joined the Trust in 2019. UPA is a smaller-than-average primary school in rural Cambridgeshire with approximately 205 pupils on roll. The academy offers a warm and nurturing school experience, with a committed and enthusiastic staff team of around 24, including an experienced Vice Principal, leaders of maths, literacy, and phonics, and a family liaison officer. UPA is proud of its pastoral care and the nurturing environment it provides for pupils, ensuring they feel happy, valued, and secure.
UPA's vision is to offer children every opportunity to shine and grow into well-rounded individuals, developing a lifelong love of learning and encouraging curiosity, resilience, and kindness. The academy is a 10-minute drive from Warboys Primary Academy, providing opportunities for collaborative working and shared CPD.
