Role Overview


We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of who is ready to make the transition to their first middle leadership role, or a previous middle leader who would like to have more autonomy for their department and a wider impact across a school.

As the Reading Lead, you are a key person in the Primary School. You have a responsibility to ensure that pupils, who have graduated from our phonics programme, continue to develop fluency and comprehension across a range of genres.

You must champion a love of reading and train teachers to model being readers themselves. You will have responsibility for Book Club and will ensure that this is being taught consistently and to a very high standard across the school.

Within your role, you will need to work very closely with the Phonics Lead and Writing lead to ensure that there is an alignment across all aspects of our English Curriculum. You are a key part of the team, whose job it is to ensure that the entire Primary Curriculum drives for exceptional progress for all our pupils towards a life of choice and opportunity.

You will also have pastoral responsibility for elements of the Primary school. These will sit alongside your curriculum lead role.

  • Qualified teacher and good honours degree
  • Expansive knowledge and passion for your subject
  • QTS and a good honours degree (R);
  • At least two years teaching experience at Primary level (R);
  • Values driven (R);
  • Strong and evidenced teaching ability, focused on excellent outcomes for all, especially the most vulnerable (D);
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal & organisational skills (D);
  • Excellent analytical numeracy and literacy (D);
  • Proven ability to motivate others towards an aspirational goal (D).
