Reception Class Teacher - maternity cover job summary
We are looking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Reception class teacher to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will have high expectations in all areas of school life and a passion for ensuring the highest possible outcomes for pupils. They will understand the expectations of the early years foundation stage and how fundamental skills start with the youngest pupils.
They will have a strong personal faith or be willing to fully immerse themselves in the Catholic teaching of the school.
Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate newly qualified teacher applications for this post.
The post begins on 1st June 2026, following a detailed handover from the existing class teacher and EYFS leader.
Alston Lane Catholic Primary School is a single form entry school with a record of high standards and high expectations. It is an excellent school for staff at all levels to develop professionally. We are a good school with an outstanding standard of religious education and Catholic life.
This is a full time, temporary position until 23rd October 2026. Following this date, the post may end or, dependent on the willingness of the candidate, it will continue for two days per week as a job share until 25th March 2027 - the expected return of the post-holder.
