What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a teacher with experience in EYFS to teach full-time in our lovely Reception class.

Are you

  • vibrant
  • approachable
  • enthusiastic
  • committed to high quality Early Years education
  • an excellent communicator
  • able to maintain positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff?

If so, we could be the school for you!

Our Reception class is already very well-established and organised; the children are happy and settled, and we pride ourselves on having strong relationships with parents and the wider community.

We need a super teacher who will join us and continue what we've already grown.

The following experience would be ideal:

- previous or current teaching experience in EYFS

- experience of successfully delivering a systematic, synthetic phonics scheme

Our desirable criteria includes:

- experience of using Tapestry as a communication and assessment tool

- experience of following Sounds-Write (phonics), Kinetic Letters (handwriting) and/or Talk for Writing (writing)

Most importantly, we want somebody with a "can do" attitude, who loves working with children and enjoys everything that teaching brings with it!

The Head Teacher's covering letter gives information regarding visits to the school and the planned interview date.

What the school offers its staff

  • one-form entry standalone academy
  • established, experienced and stable staff who are caring and committed to the children and school
  • supportive leadership team
  • nurturing school with strong values and ethos
  • character education is at the heart of what we do
  • fantastic outdoor provision and grounds
  • Ofsted rated "Good" (January 2023)
  • well-established whole-school systems, schemes and ways of working.

Further details about the role

This role does not carry any additional responsibilities and would be perfect for a teacher with some experience, who is ready to slot in to an already established team.

We will expect the successful candidate to contribute to our New Intake events for our Reception class starting in September 2024.

Supported by the leadership team, they will also be responsible for:

  • administering the Reception Baseline Assessment in September 2024
  • parents' evening during the autumn term 2024, and potentially spring 2025
  • day-to-day communication with parents. including observations on Tapestry
  • working successfully within our EY and KS1 team.

Commitment to safeguarding

Boughton Primary is committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The school’s recruitment and selection policies/processes follow DfE guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ September 2023 by adhering to statutory responsibilities to check staff who work with children, taking proportionate decisions on whether to ask for any checks beyond what is required.
In line with KCSIE 2023 and best practice, the school will conduct an online search for all shortlisted candidates.
Applicants will be required to provide proof of Right to Work in the UK.
