Sawley Infant and Nursery School is situated near the town of Long Eaton, half way between Derby and Nottingham. We currently have 232 children on roll organised into six KS1 classes and three reception classes. In addition, we have a 75 place nursery. The majority of children transfer from our nursery and are joined in Reception by children from other settings. At the end of Key Stage One most children transfer to Sawley Junior School, which is on our shared site.
The school converted to academy status in November 2014 along with Sawley Junior School, Dovedale Primary and Shardlow Primary. We are the first primary only multi-academy trust in Derbyshire. Our trust is a collection of good and outstanding schools with shared values but we all retain our individual school characters. There are many opportunities for collaboration as Willows Academy Trust moves forward to improve local education and draw upon our collective experiences, talents and resources. We have cluster working groups for senior and subject leadership and administrative staff. As an academy, we operate standard teachers’ pay and conditions and will honour any length of service brought in from local authority employment. We use standard contracts of employment.
