About the Trust

Ebor Academy Trust is a family of schools located across North and East Yorkshire, York and the Humber region. We think of ourselves as being one school across many sites, working collaboratively to deliver high quality, rich and engaging education in our diverse communities. Our aims are to enable all our learners to flourish and to open doors for their very best futures.

We genuinely seek to live by our values of Excellence, Belonging, Opportunity and Respect; these underpin how we work and how we relate to each other. We have high ambitions for our learners and staff and aim to deliver this through a culture of continuous development, support, kindness and understanding. We are a friendly trust that puts people first.

About the role

Alderman Cogan Primary Academy are looking to recruit a Receptionist Administrator to work in their busy school office for 30 hours per week. These hours will be as follows, Monday to Friday, 8:30am until 3:30pm with a 1 hours lunch during the school term time.

Working closely with the Senior Administrator and the School Business Partner to provide efficient administration, you will be responsible for a range of receptionist and clerical duties. Central to this will be to provide a welcoming and efficient first point of contact for parents and visitors to the school, whether at the front desk, on the telephone, or by email.

In addition, you will use a variety of IT systems to record school data, produce reports and generate letters and other communications. You will also assume responsibility for recording and monitoring pupil absences and reporting on this as appropriate.

The job requirements

We are looking for a highly competent and experienced Administration Assistant who is able to manage the systems and processes in our busy school effectively. As well as being a confident and capable user of various IT systems, you will also be willing to learn how to operate our various software packages to allow the smooth running of our school office.

Whilst experience of working in an education setting is highly desirable, it is not essential however you will have an understanding of special educational needs, child protection and safeguarding issues, as well as excellent organisational and time management skills.

You will be driven by providing good customer service in all that you do for the benefit of our most important people – our children. A commitment to keeping children safe and the ability to respect the values of the school are also of fundamental importance.

Working with us

Although our administrative staff work in small school-based teams, the systems used are the same across the trust, meaning help and support is never far away. We ensure full training is provided, whether it’s through courses, apprenticeships or coaching and mentoring. What is essential is the desire to learn and a commitment to providing excellent customer service at all times to school staff, parents and our pupils.

We offer generous terms and conditions of employment. All our staff have access to a comprehensive Wellbeing Programme to help you and your family stay healthy. This includes access to free private GP and nurse appointments, exercise advice and classes, plus a variety of specialist clinics as well as counselling services. We also offer significant discounts on many high street shops, online retailers and travel agents, not to mention free car parking at all our schools, an enviable pension scheme, sick pay and family friendly policies.

The Trust is striving to be an inclusive and diverse organisation, where everyone feels able to be themselves and experiences a strong sense of belonging. The Trust wholeheartedly supports the principle of equality and diversity in employment and opposes all forms of unfair or unlawful discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, or sex. We encourage and support the recruitment, retention and career development of people from as wide a range as possible of ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds and seek to develop a community of staff that accurately represents society as a whole. All applications for employment with the Trust will be considered against the criteria outlined in the person specification for the position advertised.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We follow safer recruitment practices and appointments are subject to, amongst other things, an enhanced DBS check. This also means that all applicants need to complete the online form in full as we are not able to accept CVs. Please see the Trust’s Recruitment Policy for further information.

Closing date: Friday 5th July at 12.00noon

Interview date: To be confirmed
