Receptionist job summary

We are looking to appoint a passionate and inspiring Receptionist to join a talented and supportive administrative team. We are looking for individuals who share our passion for empowering young women and guiding them to become the best version of themselves. The successful candidate will:

  • Provide a professional receptionist service to the school.
  • Be the first point of contact for both telephone and face-to-face enquiries and take messages where appropriate.
  • Ensure school safeguarding and security arrangements are always complied with, including the issue of visitor’s badges and operating school entry systems.A
  • Accept and sign for deliveries as appropriate.
  • Provide hospitality for visitors to the school.
  • Monitor the CCTV
  • Distribute incoming mail and organise the dispatch of outgoing mail, including the crediting of the franking machine.
  • Supervise the Year 8 reception helpers
  • Ensure the phone system's external and internal voicemail is up to date and accurate for each user/department
  • Support our mission to empower and motivate young women
  • Be creative, empathetic and reflective in your approach
  • Share our commitment to building great learning communities where students flourish


The successful candidate will become part of an oversubscribed, flourishing school for girls aged 11 to 18, with confident, courteous, articulate students and an ethos in empowerment. The Frances Bardsley Academy for Girls is a non-denominational academy secondary school and sixth form for girls aged between 11 and 18. It is located in Romford in the borough of Havering, London. The number of pupils is approximately 1,300.

The school was established in 1906 by Frances Bardsley with the aim of providing free education to the local girls. Formerly across two different sites until 2003, it became The Frances Bardsley School for Girls in 1972 and converted to academy status in 2012.
