Job purpose
To lead on the strategy and management of staff recruitment (alongside SLT)
To support the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) with the daily management of staff absence cover
To support the SLT in ensuring that we have the best quality staff employed at Westfield Academy
To contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the Academy.
Main responsibilitiesRecruitment
Working with SLT to identify long term recruitment needs and vacancies within the Academy
Writing and posting engaging job adverts to ensure maximum candidate engagement
Developing strong responsive relationships with a wide range of recruitment providers including teacher training agencies, ensuring we have a significant number of teacher trainee placements each year
To ensure (liasing with other staff) that our documentation and website are up to date in terms of recruitment
Managing the application process accurately and efficiently from start to finish
Handling pre-screening of prospective candidates and arranging interviews with hiring managers
Liaising with hiring managers for interview feedback
Assisting recruiters to source candidates, update our database and handle any relevant paperwork
Performing recruitment duties such as scheduling interviews, updating the calendar accordingly, answering phone calls, and monitoring emails
Preparing and posting job advertisements online and in print media
Screening candidates by performing background checks and verifying their qualifications and experience
Following up with candidates during the recruitment process, like shortlisting call backs or rejection emails
Assisting with the interview process including meeting and greeting interviewees onsite
Resolving issues such as interview cancellations swiftly
Assisting HR with the onboarding process, including preparing documents and coordinating orientation agendas and welcoming new staff
Staff Absence Cover
Working with SLT to identify and arrange short term absence cover for both teaching and non-teaching staff
Working with SLT to identify and arrange medium and long term absence cover for both teaching and non-teaching staff
To publish fortnightly cover allocations as directed by the SLT lead.
Organising and providing induction and support for supply staff, both teaching and non-teaching
Ensuring that safeguarding requirements and other relevant regulations are in place and adhered to including the completion, recording and maintenance of necessary checks.
Supporting the Senior Leadership Team with ensuring all teaching staff absences are well-managed and procedures are correctly followed.
Liaising with recruitment/supply agencies to ensure good relationships, high quality staff cover and clear accountability
General
Participate in training and development activities and programmes as required.
Appreciate and support the role of other professionals and establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies and professionals.

The post holder is expected to be able to adapt his / her work to address the specific needs of the pupils.
Support and foster the aims of the Academy.
Make themselves familiar with the contents of the Staff Handbook, the Academy’s aims and policies and endeavour to follow these closely.
Attend staff meetings, parents’ evenings, INSET sessions and similar important functions both in and out of normal Academy hours, and participate in the main Open Day for prospective parents and pupils.
Notify their Line Manager as early as possible if they are going to be absent from the Academy and follow the Academy’s policy for notifying.
Attend relevant in-service training each year, at the request of their Line Manager and / or the Headteacher.
Take part in the Academy’s performance management scheme and appraisal.
