Contract: 37 hours per week, term time only + 1 week

As we continue to improve moving out of Requires Improvement we are looking for an enthusiastic new member of staff to join The Hereford Academy. The role requires the post holder to manage the newly established Refocus Room, supporting a small number of students to develop positive learning behaviours, improve their self-esteem and re-integrate into mainstream classes successfully.

We require a positive role model who knows that excellent relationships are at the heart of developing positive behaviour in our students; someone who has a passion for improving young peoples’ life chances and uses positive management techniques and strategies, that are consistent with the school’s values and ethos.

Safeguarding and wellbeing of our students underpins everything we do at The Hereford Church of England Academy and the applicant will be expected to support and develop this.

The post holder reports to the Assistant Head Teacher and liaises with other senior, teaching and support staff.

The post holder will contribute to the overall good order within the Academy, and promote the well-being and general progress and achievement of students. They will provide first line support to students and families included in the Refocus Room.

The successful applicant will have the ability to manage difficult situations in a firm and sensitive manner. They will hold Five GCSEs Grade C or above (or equivalent), a First Aid at Work qualification (or be willing to train) and will be conversant with Microsoft Office.

Applicants will demonstrate that they have personal impact, self-confidence and presence, display energy, enthusiasm, commitment and perseverance. Plenty of common sense, along with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and embrace new ideas is essential. Experience of working in a similar role would be an advantage.
