Regional Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist job summary

Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Springwell Leeds Academy, is looking for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality support to children and young people with diverse and complex needs.

In this role, you will work with children and young people facing Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), learning disabilities, and other complex needs across special schools and alternative provisions within the at Springwell Leeds Academy and across the West and North Yorkshire Specialist Schools Partnership (WNYSP). These schools are part of the Wellspring Trust and include:

  • Springwell Leeds Academy

  • Springwell Harrogate

  • The Forest School

  • Forest Moor School

  • Green Meadows Academy

  • Penny Field School

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive, specialist occupational therapy assessments and develop individualised, evidence-based therapy programmes for children and young people aged 0-19 years with diverse and complex needs.

  • Manage a designated caseload across various school settings, prioritising needs effectively and maintaining accurate clinical records.

  • Provide specialist advice and recommendations on environmental adaptations, specialist equipment, and assistive technology.

  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) and multi-agency settings, contributing to EHCP processes and liaising effectively with families and external agencies

  • Design and deliver training sessions and workshops for school staff, parents/carers, and other professionals.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, aligned with NHS Agenda for Change Band 6 (£38,487 - £46,480 pro rata, actual salary £28,865 - £34,860).

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Term time only (39 weeks).

Location: Employed by Springwell Leeds Academy, working across a designated group of special schools and alternative provision settings within NWYSP, with an expectation of travel33.
