What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a unique person for a very unique school.
The leadership team are moving away from an environment of fear and sanction to one of love and understanding. Our young people do not need to be shouted at and punished, they have experienced far too much of this already in their young lives. They need to be helped, listened to, and taught how to communicate in a socially acceptable way. It’s about relationship building and restorative conversations and this role will be at the heart of it.
You will need the following skills to be able to fulfil this role:
- To build positive relationships with students and parents, many of whom lack trust in education and have complex social and emotional needs;
- To be a good role model at all times for our students whilst maintaining an appropriate and professional distance;
- To maintain good working relationships with staff and other stakeholders;
- To provide a physical presence around the school during the day and work reactively to address issues as they arise;
- To re-engage reluctant learners as they drop out of lessons;
- Deal calmly and professionally to relationship breakdown, collecting statements from those involved, and rebuilding through restorative conversations;
- To assist in the classroom with any behavioural concerns;
- To accurately record and monitor safeguarding concerns;
- To develop restorative ways of working with students;
- To be resilient and not to take things personally;
- To be able to manage all this with a smile and a sense of humour.
If this sounds like you, then you will become part of a very special, cohesive team. Staff at Eaglewood believe wholeheartedly in rising the aspiration of its students and is committed to successfully changing the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in our community.
