What skills and experience we're looking for

Helston Community College, part of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, are seeking a dedicated, resilient and compassionate Reset Room Coordinator & Pastoral Support Assistant to join our pastoral team. This is a key role in supporting students who require additional behavioural, emotional and social support, enabling them to succeed both academically and personally.

You will coordinate and help supervise our Reset Room, ensuring it operates as a calm, controlled environment where students can reflect on their behaviour, complete work and re-engage positively with learning. Alongside this, you will provide targeted pastoral support to vulnerable students across the College.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the Reset Room & help supervise

Support students in regulating behaviour and re-engaging with learning

Work with teaching staff to provide appropriate work and ensure completion

Build positive relationships with students to support emotional wellbeing

Liaise with Senior Leadership, Heads of Year, SENCO and safeguarding teams

Monitor, record and report on student progress and behaviour

Support reintegration back into lessons following time in Reset

ABOUT YOU

Have experience working with young people, ideally in a school or similar setting

Demonstrate strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

Be calm, consistent and emotionally intelligent

Be able to build strong, professional relationships with students and staff

Show resilience, flexibility and a proactive approach

Have good organisational and communication skills
