Residential Child Care Assistant job summary

Vale of Evesham School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Residential Care Assistant with a real passion for, and commitment to, working with children with complex learning needs to join our committed residential staff team in supporting our pupils before and after school. The school caters for pupils who have moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties. The residential provision caters for weekly boarders, which ensures that we offer a 24-hour curriculum for up to 15 pupils in 3 suites. Many of our pupils have other barriers to their learning including autism, challenging behaviour, physical disabilities and complex health needs.

The post benefits from set shift patterns, with no weekend or bank holiday working required. Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday evenings, and Tuesday to Friday mornings, and some daytime working, on an agreed shift pattern. It is a term time only position, so you would not be required to work during school holidays, however the salary is split into 12 equal monthly payments. Sleep-in duties may be required, these are paid separately in addition to the above salary. An example rota would be:

Monday 3.00pm – 10.00pm

Tuesday 7.30am - 9.15am & 3.00pm – 10.00pm

Wednesday 7.30am – 9.15am & 3.00pm – 8.00pm

Thursday 7.30am – 9.15am & 2.00pm – 9.30pm

Friday 7.30am – 9.15am

We are looking for someone who is:

Flexible, adaptable and creative and able to respond positively to change.

Willing to undertake the NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care (Children & Young People)

The ability to use technology to record pupil information and store and retrieve data

Is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils.

Has experience of working with pupils with complex learning needs.

Will uphold and promote the ethos and values of the school.

This declaration is to confirm that you are not disqualified ‘by association’ to anyone currently residing within your household who is disqualified under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulation 2009.

If you are successful, we will ask you to provide appropriate documents, such as a passport, visa or full birth certificate and national insurance number to confirm this. Vale of Evesham School is part of Central Learning Partnership Trust. We cater for approx. 185 pupils with a range of cognition and learning difficulties, aged from 4-19. The pupils are ably supported at all levels by just over 140 staff.
