Room Leader (Level 3) with SEND responsibility job summary

To be able to achieve this, we need to have a team of dedicated and outstanding staff, who will contribute to our exceptional learning community.

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic Level 3 TA to take on the role of EYFS Room Leader, who will work with colleagues to support the teaching, learning and development of children in the Early Years (F@S). The post-holder will initially be based in FS0 (children aged 2-3) however deployment is flexible across EYFS. The successful candidate will also be responsible for advising, supporting and managing SEND across F@S, alongside the manager. They will support access to learning for pupils, including the management and preparation of resources, implementing agreed work programmes both within and outside of the classroom, assisting with the whole planning cycle, and providing general support in the classroom. They will also work with external agencies to access advise and support plus complete SEND paperwork and referrals as part of the graduated response.

This role may be attractive to those who have attained the Level 3 standard, either through achieving the relevant qualification or by having equivalent experience.

Under the guidance of others, the EYFS Room Leader will:

  • Lead, organise, prepare and manage an age-appropriate learning environment and resources to support high quality teaching and learning

  • Set up high-quality provision on a daily basis

  • Plan, prepare and resource learning across the week

  • Teach whole classes and groups across EYFS

  • Facilitate learning through play

  • Model and coach staff, where required, to ensure consistent high-quality practice across the room

  • Lead on learning displays within the classroom and across school where needed

  • Assess the need of pupils and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning

  • Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, setting high expectations and modelling the core values of the academy

  • Promote the inclusion and celebration of all pupils within the classroom

  • Promote independence and develop age-appropriate skills

  • Create an engaging and immersive environment which pupils are excited to learn and develop in

  • Maintain pupils’ intimate care following the Academy’s Intimate Care Policy

The role is based at Springwood Primary Academy but may, on occasion, involve working at other academies within the trust.

Successful candidates will be subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a self-declaration related to their criminal record or any information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Additional checks in relation to the Childcare Disqualification Regulations will be undertaken for successful candidates to junior academies. If you have lived or worked outside of the UK, additional information may be required from you to satisfy safer recruitment checks.
