Join our dedicated team at Consett Academy as a Safeguarding Officer, supporting the Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in the vital role of implementing safeguarding and child protection policies. You will act as a key point of contact for safeguarding queries, providing essential advice to colleagues, and supporting students through sensitive matters. This is a rewarding role, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people while working closely with internal and external agencies such as local authorities, police, and health services.

The ideal candidate will have sustained experience working with young people in an education setting, a good understanding of safeguarding procedures, and strong communication skills. A Level 3 qualification in a relevant area is essential, and familiarity with systems such as CPOMS or similar would be an advantage. You will be highly organized, able to work under pressure, and possess strong IT skills to help monitor safeguarding issues and keep training records up to date.

This role requires a proactive and resilient individual who can handle sensitive situations while maintaining professionalism. You will be responsible for monitoring safeguarding incidents, preparing reports, and ensuring student welfare throughout the day. Additionally, you will collaborate with primary schools to ensure a smooth transition for new Year 7 students and provide pastoral support as needed.

If you are passionate about safeguarding and want to make a positive difference in the lives of young people, we invite you to apply. Full details, including required qualifications and experience, are available in the job specification.
