Safeguarding Welfare & Attendance Support (SWAS) job summary

Chiltern Way Academy Futures is seeking a compassionate and committed individual to join our team as a Safeguarding Welfare & Attendance (SWAS).

We support young people who have been excluded or are at risk, offering a fresh start in a nurturing environment. Our work includes on-site provision, outreach support, and home tuition for learners with medical needs.

About the Role

You will play a key role within our safeguarding team, working closely with the Safeguarding, Welfare and Attendance Manager (SWAM)

You will:

  • Provide pastoral and therapeutic support to students
  • Respond to safeguarding, attendance and welfare concerns
  • Work closely with families and external agencies
  • Support emotional-based school avoidance (EBSA)
  • Contribute to a strong, collaborative safeguarding team

The Chiltern Way Academy is a cutting edge and transformational Special Needs Trust providing high-quality education, care and therapy for the huge range of need that exists across the behaviour spectrum.

Our site in Basingstoke is an Alternative Provision for learners who have been permanently excluded, are at risk of permanent exclusion or have medical needs. We can support up to 42 learners on site and we also offer outreach services to support young people in mainstream schools who are facing barriers to inclusion.

We wish to appoint a Head Teacher at our Futures Campus to be responsible for leading and managing the school day and the leadership of whole school aspects in consultation with the Executive Principal and ELT. The ideal candidate will have substantial leadership experience and a proven track record of making considerable progress in critical school improvement.
