What skills and experience we're looking for

  • Understanding of current thinking and best practice in business and administration management eg finance, human resources, procurement and admissions enabling implementation of effective systems.
  • Good understanding of public sector finance within the academy sector, the school or academy funding framework and statutory regulation
  • Evidence of recent Continual Professional Development (CPD) relevant to this post
  • Qualified AAT or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, fully qualified accountant, or other relevant qualification or working knowledge of academy financial management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written form, that can be adapted to the audience enabling strong working relationships to form quickly including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-experts such as accounting principles.
  • ICT skills including expertise in the use of MS Excel and use of financial systems, ideally PS Financials
  • Project management skills that support the timely delivery of projects and completion of capital works
  • Evidence of robust administrative, organisational and prioritisation skills with an analytical and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Two years relevant experience of financial/operations management in a complex environment with constantly changing priorities
  • Collation, analysis, interpretation, verification and presentation of meaningful data/statistics leading to the creation and development of operational policies and procedures
  • Demonstrable evidence of leading, managing and inspiring confidence and trust in others, which is both empowering and motivational, encouraging collaborative working
  • Experience of managing difficult and challenging conversations
  • Ability to foster an open, innovative, equitable culture, dealing with difficult decisions or situations in a timely manner
  • Supportive and inspirational leader that motivates and empowers others to work collaboratively
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy whilst under pressure
  • Pro-active, flexible and adaptable and able to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Ability for self-reflection and improvement, with a well-developed social intelligence enabling the influencing of key internal and external stakeholders including parents, carers and the wider community
