School Business Manager job summary

We are seeking an experienced, strategic and highly motivated School Business Manager to join our thriving middle school of 600 pupils in Leighton Buzzard. Reporting directly to the Head Teacher and serving as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, this is a pivotal role at the heart of our school's operational and strategic leadership.

The position is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 52 weeks per year. Annual leave is to be taken during the school holidays.

As School Business Manager, you will contribute to whole-school strategic planning and leadership, providing expert guidance and oversight across Finance, HR, premises, compliance and administration. You will lead the administration team, support staff and site staff, ensuring high standards of performance, professionalism and service delivery. You will play a central role in shaping the school's long-term sustainability, operational resilience and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience in business, finance and/or school operations. Be able to demonstrate strong financial acumen and strategic planning skills. Be an effective team leader with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. A sound understanding of compliance, Health & Safety and HR practices are required. You should be proactive, solution-focused and committed to supporting high educational standards.
