School Business Manager job summary
Sutton Courtenay CE Primary School is a small, nurturing, one-form entry school at the heart of its village community. We are at an exciting point in our journey, with a new Headteacher appointed in 2024 and a renewed commitment to raising standards and delivering the very best for our children.
We are now looking for a motivated and capable School Business Manager to support us in achieving our improvement goals. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key leadership role in a school that is committed to positive change, team spirit, and working together to secure brighter futures for our pupils.
As part of a thriving local Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), you will be supported by a strong central Trust team and will work very closely with the other school business professionals within the Trust, sharing best practice and accessing strong professional support.
About the Role:
n partnership with the RET School Business Lead, you will play a key role in both the strategic and operational leadership of the school’s non-teaching functions, including finance, HR, site management, and administration. You will work closely with the Schools' Headteacher and Trust central teams to ensure systems and processes effectively support the school’s improvement journey and contribute to the broader success of the Trust. Additionally, you will collaborate with other school business professionals across the MAT to align practices and share expertise
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the school’s budget, procurement and Trust finance processes at school level
- Oversee HR processes, recruitment, and payroll in conjunction with Trust HR
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, data protection, and regulatory standards
- Work in partnership with the MAT’s central finance, estates, and HR teams
- Support income generation and value-for-money procurement
- Line-manage administrative, premises, extended provision and lunchtime supervisor
