School Business Support Manager job summary

The Role

Are you an experienced finance or business professional looking to make a meaningful impact in education? We are seeking a School Business Support Manager to provide vital operational and financial support to a group of schools within our Trust. The role is full-time/ 37 hours per week, term-time plus 2 weeks, although part-time will be considered for the right candidate.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the financial management of Trust schools, ensuring they meet their business objectives through robust administration, process improvement, and effective staff management. You will act as a key liaison between Headteachers, the Trust Finance Manager, and school staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Produce budgets and three-year plans, monitor spending, and work with Headteachers to ensure efficiencies and funding solutions.

  • Staff Leadership: Supervise central finance staff, manage recruitment and training, and set performance goals to enhance team development.

  • Operational Excellence: Lead operational projects, identify process improvements, and analyze financial data to report findings to stakeholders.

  • Administrative Oversight: Ensure accurate record-keeping and maintain strict compliance with GDPR and data protection regulations.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain positive working relationships across internal teams and external partners.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who is highly organized, calm under pressure, and committed to the ethos of our schools.

Requirements include:

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 4 or equivalent experience in financial management. A school business Management or accounting qualification would be ideal.

  • Skills: Strong numeracy skills with the ability to undertake complex budgetary calculations.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to negotiate effectively and present complex information.

  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to use Google Suite and a wide range of financial/administrative IT packages.
