Your new school
Part of Lift Schools, Greenwood Academy is an ambitious secondary school led by a dedicated and approachable Associate Principal, Richard Johnson. Having been with the school since 2020 but part of Lift Schools since 2001, he has established a caring and welcoming culture across the school. Staff take time to get to know each pupil and leaders have created a strong community where staff and pupils look after each other and this extends beyond the school gates. Staff have built effective links with families and the wider community as recognised by the latest 'good' Ofsted. Due to an internal promotion we are now looking for a school counsellor to focus on supporting pupils with SEMH (social, emotion and meant health difficulties), this is initially a fixed term contract until July but we are hopeful it will become a permanent position.

Your new role
This is a pivotal role for providing student advice and guidance to support the welfare of all pupils across the academy. You'll provide an independent and confidential counselling service to pupils, through individual sessions and group sessions, responding to their personal, social, emotional or educational concerns. The role is also responsible for maintaining appropriate records and liaising regularly with the Principal, SLT, SENDCO and other professionals as necessary in relation to pupils' safeguarding and welfare.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a proven record of building strong relationships with staff, pupils, parents and external agencies. You'll actively listen and understand pupils, ensuring effective and empathetic interactions and have the ability to de-escalate situations and deal calmly with pupils and other stakeholders.

We offer you:

* Comprehensive training: Access to some of the best developmental training to boost your career.
* Generous benefits: From your pension plan to healthcare and financial support, we've got you covered.
* Lifestyle perks: Enjoy discounted gym memberships, travel deals, and even electric vehicle incentives.

Please don't wait until the closing date to apply as we will review applications as we receive them.
