School Improvement Lead (Primary) job summary
Required for April or September 2025
School Improvement Lead (Primary)
The post is an exciting opportunity for an experienced colleague to join our trust team. We are seeking a well-qualified, exceptional practitioner, who will lead on school improvement work across our primary/infant settings. You will have a track record of securing strong pupil progress and of inspiring and developing colleagues.
Given the current scale of our trust, we envisage that the successful applicant will need to be flexible and should expect to spend the majority of their time directly supporting in our trust schools. There may be occasions when they are required to spend longer placements in one setting depending upon capacity and whether there are particular areas which need development. Whilst much of the job description focuses on standards and teaching, there is a strong leadership support dimension to this role and we anticipate the successful candidate will have substantial senior leadership experience. A teaching/in-school deployment load will be agreed with the successful candidate.
You will be joining a trust where we have a strong sense of moral purpose and are striving hard to provide our children with the best possible education. People are at the heart of what we do, and our settings are child-centred schools, where the well-being and happiness of pupils and staff is important to us. The ability to build positive, supportive working relationships will be essential, as will be the need to be inspiring and approachable.
As an all-through trust our settings have a strong understanding of how primary education supports children’s future learning. We have been successful in securing attainment at KS2 at or above national averages. Hampton Lakes first KS2 results in 2024 were exceptional. We seek to build on this strong position and aspire to truly exceptional outcomes year on year across the trust.
Our post covid challenges have related to our youngest children and have been: securing strong phonics outcomes; supporting children who are not school ready on entry, and in adjusting to cohorts with higher levels of SEND and increasingly complex SEND. Therefore, expertise and a successful track record in the following areas would be particularly valuable: Early Years and KS1, phonics and SEND. We have made a strong start in our work in these areas and our school improvement efforts are gaining traction. We look forward to discussing our progress in these areas with candidates at interview.
All of our settings have an overall Ofsted judgement of GOOD, awarded in the last 18 months. Therefore, this role genuinely provides the opportunity to lead on what we believe is the most exciting school improvement journey: Good to Great.
The trust has a growth strategy which means that we are planning for more schools to join us and hope to have the opportunity to open more new schools in the future. We anticipate that this role will support us in our future developments.
This is offered as a full-time opportunity. Part-time working would be considered in negotiation with the successful candidate.
We hope you will be inspired to apply for this exciting opportunity and look forward to receiving your completed application. Applications should be made via My New Term and candidates are advised to refer to the job description and person specification before making an application. Please use the information supplied within the job description and person specification to make the best of your application by identifying some specific pieces of work you may have undertaken in any of these areas.
